German approval for SurfTech coating on IBCs

SurfTech, the new internal coating for plastic containers from UK-based Harcostar Drums, has been tested by the Physikalisch-

Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Germany and approved for use with IBCs in Zone One filling areas. The standard SurfTech coating has a surface resistivity of around 1010 Ohms per square, eliminating the static that builds up during filling and therefore reducing the incendiary risk.

However, Harcostar Drums has now developed an enhanced conductive coating for use with IBCs that achieves a resistivity of 107 Ohms/sq. SurfTech can be tailored to the requirements of the product being transported and can combine barrier and/or anti-static properties.
