Gravatom Engineering Systems has been awarded £200,000 of Selective Finance for Investment in England (SFI) by The Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA).

The grant will enable the Gravatom to expand into the north of England, culminating in a new high specification factory in Workington, West Cumbria. The 20,000ft2 facility, to be named the John Dalton factory, will be used for prototype, design development and assembly of complete systems for the nuclear, radiopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical and medical industries.

Hampshire-based Gravatom designs, manufactures and commissions engineering solutions throughout the world and is one of the fastest growing engineering and manufacturing companies in the South of England.

Steven Broomhead, NWDA chief executive, said: 'The NWDA is pleased to support Gravatom by enabling the establishment of a new facility. This is part of a project that will also have a positive impact on the region by improving employment prospects.'
