Helping out in a flood crisis

Global chemical giant BASF is donating €1m (US$1.1m) in immediate aid to help victims of the recent flood disasters in Central Europe. The company has also pledged to match the amount raised by its employees as part of the 'BASF helps!' fund.

'The extent of the natural disaster is staggering,' said Dr Jurgen Strube, chairman of BASF. 'Our solidarity lies with the victims of the catastrophe. We want to help and in an unbureaucratic fashion.' Close collaboration with those responsible in the region will ensure that the funds are used to help people directly affected by the flood.
