Holographic blisterpacks give seal of authenticity

A new form of security packaging to fight counterfeiting of pharmaceuticals has been developed by OpSec Brand Protection, the specialist brand authentication division of Applied Optical Technologies. The new holographic blisterpack material was devised in conjunction with Italian foil converting company Antonio Carcano, and follows the development of special optical transfer films incorporating secure images that can be transferred onto heat-sealable aluminium using the same equipment as conventional packs.

The new material not only incorporates a secure optical image but is print receptive to allow overprinting with individual corporate or brand graphics.
