Pharmaceutical process support specialist The Honeyman Group has entered into a new partnership with Ireland’s National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT) that will see Honeyman delivering its portfolio of training courses exclusively through NIBRT.
The Honeyman Group has been delivering technical training programmes to the global pharmaceutical industry for almost 20 years at conference venues across Europe and on clients’ sites. A broad prospectus of pharmaceutical training programmes has been born out of technical consultancy projects completed for the world’s leading pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers and partnerships with other industry specialists, experts and regulatory bodies.
In April 2010, The Honeyman Group announced the opening of Honeyman Ireland, with additional offices and laboratories in Dublin to provide a platform for the company to serve its long-standing Irish based clients. In February 2011 Honeyman Ireland was inspected by the Irish Medicines Board (IMB) and subsequently approved as a GMP compliant contract analytical laboratory.
‘In an increasingly challenging business environment, the pharmaceutical industry needs trained professionals to help drive process improvement and efficiency in a compliant manner,’ said Mark Thompson, managing director of The Honeyman Group.
‘In 2010 we further committed to helping the industry meet these training requirements by undertaking an accreditation programme with Teesside University; this has enabled us to provide delegates with the option to undertake an internationally recognised, higher education qualification. However, this new partnership with NIBRT takes us to a new level.
‘By teaming up with NIBRT we will be able to deliver our internationally recognised courses in a world class simulated GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. This is a fantastic development for the industry as I believe that no other training provider in Europe can offer this level of technical training backed up with such engaging facilities.’
Located in Dublin, NIBRT provides training and research solutions for the bioprocessing industry. Boasting a brand new, state-of-the-art pilot manufacturing plant, NIBRT adopts an holistic approach to the delivery of research and training programmes in a realistic GMP simulated, operational manufacturing environment. The pilot plant houses both upstream and downstream bioprocessing facilities; bioprocessing, bio-analytical and glycobiology laboratories; and interactive learning areas.
Based on an innovative collaboration between Dublin City University, University College Dublin, Trinity College Dublin and the Institute of Technology in Sligo, NIBRT has the remit to support the development of the existing bioprocessing industry in Ireland and to attract new companies to the industry.
‘We are delighted to partner with the Honeyman Group for the delivery of their training portfolio,’ said Ian Nelligan, training director at NIBRT. ‘This excellent training will be delivered in a facility that is purpose built to the highest global standards. This will give delegates a learning experience that is unsurpassed anywhere in the world.’
