The design of the MicroMaxx system is an alternative to existing labour-intensive methods

US manufacturer High Purity New England (HPNE) has launched MicroMaxx, a new tangential flow filtration (TFF) lab-scale screening system for immediate sale.

The design of the MicroMaxx system is an alternative to existing labour-intensive methods with the option to run in manual or automatic modes for hollow fibre screening in benchtop applications.

“The MicroMaxx system features a self-priming, compact design. In manual mode, the user chooses the direction of the fluid with the push of a button, while automatic mode allows fluid to be passed parallel from the outermost syringes to the filter, travelling in an alternating pathway. In addition to simplifying a formerly arduous task and saving time, end-users can also save their thumbs by eliminating the need to constantly press down on syringes when screening a filter for extended periods of time,” said Emily Peterson, Business Development Manager.

Other features of the system include a detailed HMI touch screen for ease-of-use, RPM readouts of pumps, pressure readouts on either side of the filter, and a manual priming feature. This device also allows for easy integration of pressure sensors, single-use diaphragm pumps, and the ability to connect any customizable tubing and/or connections with syringes that are easily removable for easy sampling and analytical testing.

Peterson continued: “HPNE prides itself on finding unique solutions to the challenges facing our end-user, and MicroMaxx is the embodiment of that mission.”

As industry needs grow, HPNE continues to supply the biopharmaceutical industry with a range of innovative products, from drug discovery and development to fill-finish. This includes their flagship product, custom single-use assemblies, as well as pumps, mixers, and other single-use solutions. Along with their own manufactured products for the global market, they are also a distributor for 18 brands in North America.
