Will provide locally manufactured oligonucleotides to researchers in the region

Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT), a leader in custom nucleic acid synthesis, is now able to provide locally manufactured oligonucleotides to researchers in Singapore and throughout the region from its first synthesis facility in Asia.

IDT acquired the oligo business of Singapore’s top supplier, 1st Base, in January 2012. Shortly after, the firm began work to create a state-of-the art hub for oligo manufacturing and support dedicated to the Asian market. IDT completed the nearly SGD 6m (US$4.7m; €3.6m) project in spring this year, and the Singapore company’s synthesis and other processes are now fully integrated with IDT’s operations in the US and Europe.

Through its Asian network of sales professionals and 21 distributors, IDT now serves Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar from its Singapore base.

In the coming months, IDT will expand the Singapore services to include all major Asia Pacific markets.

‘Our new synthesis and support capabilities in Singapore increase the speed with which we can deliver IDT products to our customers in Asia by two to three days,’ said Trey Martin, Chief Operating Officer at IDT. ‘Scientists can move forward with their research that much more quickly, which will add to the value IDT already contributes to their important work.’
