IMCD opens regional HQ in Singapore
Group underlines commitment to Asia Pacific
Speciality chemicals group IMCD has opened new regional headquarters in Singapore in a move to further formalise its strong focus on Asia Pacific and strategy to strengthen its commitment in this region. The new office will oversee the company’s corporate and business strategies in the region where IMCD is already active in five countries (Australia, China, India, Malaysia and New Zealand), generating an annual turnover of €150m.
Heading up the region as vp Asia is Albert Stevens who joined the company in January 2011 as general manager for pharmaceutical and personal care for Benelux. He has relocated to Singapore to take responsibility for development and implementation of business strategies for Asia.
IMCD says the opening of the new regional office is the latest in a series of steps that it has taken in recent years to build a stronghold in Asia. “Having gained the reputation of being a highly transparent partner in Europe, we are now aiming to become a preferred distributor for the leading suppliers of speciality products in Asia,” commented Piet van der Slikke, IMCD Group’s ceo. “IMCD wants to apply the capabilities and know-how acquired in Europe to the same sectors in the Asian markets.”
Earlier this year, IMCD opened two laboratories in Asia: a coatings lab in Mumbai, India and a personal care lab in Glenmarie Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia.
The IMCD Group says it has grown five-fold in the last 15 years and now has a strong position in personal care and pharmaceuticals as well as detergents, food & nutrition, coatings, lubricants and plastics and synthesis.
