Intelligent camera strikes a happy medium
The ICS100 Intelligent Camera Sensor launched by Erwin Sick, of St Albans in the UK, is said to bridge the gap between standard sensors and complex vision systems. The camera, optics, illumination and evaluation are integrated into a single housing measuring just 50x50x130mm.
Sick claims that the ICS100 is one of the first intelligent camera sensors to allow users to visualise the product required for detection or inspection before integrating the sensor into the complete machine by using the hand-held VSC programmer. Following a simple teaching procedure and storage of the settings in the ICS 100, the programmer can be removed leaving a stand-alone unit.
The light source is provided by 15 individual green LEDs integrated into the camera unit.
