Inyx receives major European order for steroidal nasal spray

Inyx, an emerging speciality pharmaceutical company in the US with a focus on niche drug delivery technologies and products, has received a second major order to produce Beclomethasone Dipropionate (BDP) Aqueous Nasal Spray product for a leading pan-European generic pharmaceutical company.

Inyx's wholly owned subsidiary in the UK, INyX Pharma Ltd, will produce approximately 460,000 units of BDP nasal spray for delivery in late 2004 to enable the client to build supplies in preparation for the high demand for the peak hay-fever season in spring 2005. Last October, Inyx received an initial BDP order from the customer for nearly 600,000 units that it produced and delivered earlier this year.

'We feel that the market for allergic rhinitis is a tremendous growth opportunity for Inyx, as total sales of prescription drugs to treat this disease in the world's seven major pharmaceutical markets are expected to surpass $5.6bn by 2009,' said Steve Handley, president of Inyx.

'We see nasal sprays as a key technology for administering other pharmaceutical products, including pain medication drugs and other larger more complex molecules that are required to treat systemic diseases. Our integrated development and production capabilities will allow Inyx to capitalise on these expanding market opportunities.'

The BDP product is the largest selling steroidal nasal spray used in the UK for the treatment of allergic rhinitis. INyX Pharma's r&d and production facilities are in Runcorn, near Manchester. Another wholly owned subsidiary, Inyx Canada, based in Toronto, provides business development and support services. The company manufactures for a majority of global markets, including North America, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.
