Lab Innovations will return to the NEC, Birmingham, for its 8th successive year on 30–31 October 2019. As the UK’s only trade show dedicated to the laboratory industry and “Best Trade Show” winner at the 2019 Exhibition News awards, it is growing year on year.
Supported by many of the UK’s leading scientific institutions, this year will see Lab Innovations’ largest ever exhibitor and visitor base, providing more exciting product launches, innovation and discussion than ever before.
Key scientific companies
This free-to-attend event is all about the business of the laboratory with almost 80% of the 3000+ attendees involved in purchasing products and services. More than 160 leading suppliers will present cutting-edge equipment and services for a range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, life sciences and healthcare.
Companies include Abbott Informatics, Shimadzu UK, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Bruker, Bigneat, IKA, PerkinElmer, Eppendorf UK, Sartorius, Cole-Parmer, Anton Paar, Merck, Kimberley-Clark Professional and Veolia Water Technologies.
Conference and CPD points
Alongside the extensive product showcase, Lab Innovations offers many CPD-accredited educational opportunities, enabling visitors to earn CPD points when they visit the show. This year, the Royal Society of Chemistry will celebrate the International Year of the Periodic Table in their dedicated theatre and several related networking events taking place across the two days.
The PerkinElmer-sponsored “Insights and Innovations,” curated by Laboratory News, will focus on lab management and digitisation, with topics including the use of artificial intelligence in science, virtual reality in the lab, handling big data in the digital age and more. Speakers will help scientists to identify laboratory practices or workflows that could be improved and present technologies which can enable them to do this.
Novel laboratory and cleanroom products
For cleanroom specialists, the Cleanroom Hub, in collaboration with Cleanroom Technology, will provide a dedicated zone for suppliers of cleanroom-specific equipment. It incorporates a dedicated exhibitor pavilion, networking lounge and two-days of educational content. Seminars will focus on regulation and legislation, and how to ensure sterilisation in environments where contamination needs to be controlled.
In the adjacent “Lab News Village,” first-time exhibitors will showcase products never seen before at Lab Innovations. Additionally, the SLS pavilion is a third larger, showcasing 20 partners of the UK’s largest independent supplier of laboratory equipment, chemicals and consumables.
With sustainability high on the UK agenda, the “Sustainable Laboratory” will return for 2019, providing opportunities for attendees to view “green” equipment and speak with leading UK universities on how they are using it and processes to achieve sustainable results.
Enhanced networking opportunities
New for 2019, a bespoke meetings concierge service, will provide visitors and exhibitors with the opportunity to prearrange meaningful meetings with exactly the companies or attendees they want to discover and do business with. This exciting new initiative accentuates the event’s position as the leading meeting place for laboratory professionals and suppliers.
Phil Ellis, Equipment Services Manager, Aberystwyth Innovation and Enterprise Campus, summed up his visit to Lab Innovations last year: “This is the first time I have attended Lab Innovations and I have ended up coming both days because of the amount of connections we were making. Besides networking, Lab Innovations has given me the opportunity to keep up-to-date as the entire market is here. I will definitely come again.”
