Lonza puts its custom manufacturing businesses into a single division

Lonza, the Swiss pharmaceutical company, has combined its Exclusive Synthesis and Biopharmaceutical business divisions into a single entity called Lonza Custom Manufacturing in order to improve efficiency.

Stephan Kutzer, head of Biopharmaceuticals and Uwe Boehlke, head of Exclusive Synthesis will jointly lead the newly formed division. Both will continue to report to Lonza ceo Stefan Borgas.

A company spokesman said the new structure would not mean any major changes.

"It is rather formalising a structure which is already in place," he said. "No lay-offs or moves of employees from one site to another are foreseen."
