Plus highlights affordable SPARK small character laser coder and pulsed Fiber laser coder for marking aluminium beverage cans

Macsa id UK will be highlighting a wide range of advanced coding and marking equipment at PPMA 2024. Amongst the machines on show will be the high speed SPA2 NANO UV laser system which offers high contrast, damage free operation, and clean and uniform marking making it ideal for a variety of delicate or difficult substrates including flexible packaging films. There will be live demonstrations of a conveyor mounted Macsa low cost idTIJ thermal inkjet printer. With significant ease of use and low maintenance benefits, the idTIJ is aimed at fast, high resolution applications. Macsa’s affordable SPARK small character laser coder and Fiber laser coder for marking aluminium beverage cans will also be highlighted.

Macsa’s versatile SPA2 NANO UV laser system is compact, lightweight and simple to install and delivers a high quality beam that is used for precision marking of delicate or difficult substrates such as flexible packaging films or high strength, high heat resins. The machine’s digital galvos and drivers together with new dual processor facilitates easy integration in the most demanding production lines.

The NANO UV can mark multiple materials with similar parameters, reducing the need for operator intervention and increasing line up time and efficiency. It is capable of generating greater contrast for more appealing aesthetics and improved readability of 2D codes. Through suppressed heat effects, burns and yellow tinting are eliminated which allows for a virtually perfect finish.

In addition, the spot size can be narrowed accordingly, allowing high resolution marking when space is limited. Instead of using an analogue scanner as is common with laser coders, the NANO UV boasts a digital scanner which enables a new approach to control and incorporates QuickFont for even faster marking times without sacrificing quality. The Marking Builder 3 software allows for ultimate flexibility in 2D Code pattern selection.

High precision marking can be performed over a wide area of 330mm x 330mm. This not only streamlines costs by simplifying the handling process but also improves productivity by reducing indexing time. Distortion, changes in shape and beam spot size variations are eliminated and the 3-Axis controls adjust the focal point to maintain high accuracy marking and processing throughout the entire marking area.

Macsa’s NANO UV is operated via a touch screen terminal which acts as point of access to the power and full functionality of the laser and to key information related to the production line. New, more intuitive software and visual aids in online video format make it extremely easy to use and the wizard reduces set up time by up to 90%. The NANO UV incorporates many new templates including barcodes, expiry dates, QR codes and datamatrix, reducing message creation by up to 50%.

With proprietary marking software and intuitive, user-friendly design, Macsa’s idTIJ thermal inkjet printer is aimed at fast, high resolution applications. Key features combine to make it one of the most cost effective and easiest to use TIJ options on the market.  The idTIJ offers accurate and consistent reproduction of barcodes, alphanumeric texts, 2d data matrix codes, dates, logos and graphics on to virtually any porous and non-porous surface, including cardboard, blister packs and PE and HDPE plastics.

Macsa’s idTIJ Incorporates an intuitive 10” colour touch screen for easy installation, operation and maintenance, as well as improved overall user experience. It is capable of high speed printing up to 150 m / min and 600 dpi. It offers high quality and fast drying print with excellent adhesion on a diverse range of materials.

Macsa’s SPARK small character laser coder offers a winning combination of low lifetime cost of ownership and 100% sustainability with strengthened performance and maximum marking resolution and definition, as well as speedy set up and reduced downtime.

The SPARK boasts advanced laser technology and consumable-free operation to ensure minimal running, maintenance and repair costs. It can mark a wide range of substrates including labels, plastics, glass, wood, paper, board, metals, rubber and textiles.

Today’s beverage manufacturers require a fast and reliable coding system to mark aluminium cans with 2D QR codes. The marking quality is incredibly important because this code must be read by smartphone applications. The Macsa Fiber laser is ideal for fast production lines and guarantees high definition, contrast and legibility of the code. The fibre delivers a stark contrast on materials like aluminium and operates at speeds up to 50m/min with a marking time of just 0.05 seconds.
