Malvern Instruments has entered into an agreement with the Industrial Centre of Particle Science and Engineering (ICPSE), based at Leeds University, that will enable the company to extend its contract analysis services for particle characterisation in the UK.
This move will both add capacity and ensure the delivery of a highly cost-effective, responsive service to meet a growing and increasingly diverse range of client needs, the company says.
Contract services projects will continue to be initiated, managed and co-ordinated by Malvern's in-house teams. However, most samples will now be processed by particle characterisation experts at the ICPSE, using Malvern systems.
The ICPSE was formed in 2003 and combines the experience of two internationally acclaimed research groups: from the Institute of Particle Science & Engineering at Leeds and the department of chemical engineering at Sheffield University. The centre has a total full-time research base of more than 120 people.
'We are delighted that our contract services customers will now benefit both from our in-house expertise and that which resides within the ICPSE at Leeds,' said Duncan Roberts, director of business development at Malvern.
Alongside the developments in contract services provision, Malvern has made a significant investment in its in-house customer facilities. In June a new suite of dedicated applications laboratories and training facilities was opened at the company's UK headquar-ters, offering comprehensive customer support across all product lines and applications areas.
