Marchesini Group, the Italian manufacturer of packaging machinery for the pharmaceutical industry, has laid the first brick of the extension to its factory in Bologna, which will be completed by Autumn 2010.

The Euro 6.5m extension next to Marchesini's Pianoro headquarters will be dedicated to the Group's logistic activities.

Designed by architect Stefano Visinelli, the building will cover an area of 3,500m2. It will have a geothermal system designed by Airklima, which will ensure a comfortable workplace - warm in winter and cool in summer - by exploiting environmentally friendly technology.

Rita Tunioli, logistics and purchasing director of Marchesini Group and Marco Marchesini, management and production director of Marchesini Group laid the first brick.

"This extension will enable us to manage all the Group's logistic activities in an increasingly efficient manner; what's more, this project represents a way of doing business that always bears in mind the environmentally friendly developments in which Marchesini Group believes and invests," said Marchesini.
