The pharmaceutical industry is playing a major role in providing relief to those affected by the Asian tsunami disaster, both in terms of medicines and cash donations.
With so many survivors in so many different countries now without homes, the risk of disease presents a danger almost as dire as the earthquake itself, and in response to this various companies have already donated more than £14m in cash aid relief and millions of doses of medicines to meet immediate life-saving needs.
Many have also committed themselves to helping address longer-term health concerns, including: GlaxoSmithKline; Pfizer; Lilly; Roche; Wyeth; Johnson & Johnson; Bristol-Myers Squibb; Merck Sharp & Dohme; AstraZeneca; Sanofi-aventis and Novartis.
