Merck launches Mobius Multi Column Capture System for intensified fed-batch or perfusion monoclonal antibody production
Continuous chromatography decreases the volume of resin required by up to 99%
Merck has launched the Mobius Multi Column Capture System, the most comprehensive multi-column capture solution for intensified fed-batch or perfusion mAb production.
In traditional capture chromatography, the resin is only utilised at 60–70% of its capacity to minimise product loss. Continuous loading of multiple columns in series enables a decrease in the volume of resin required by up to 99%, improving overall productivity and decreasing the volume of buffer required for a process.
With flow rates from 1 to 120 L/h, the Mobius Multi Column Capture System is suitable for bioreactor volumes ranging from 50 to 2000 L, operating in fed-batch and perfusion mode. With unique automated features, the real-time control of the system minimises operator intervention and enhances process reproducibility.
The single-use assemblies have been qualified for continuous process for up to 20 days, and the large offering suit the needs of traditional, functionally closed, or fully closed processes.
