MonoSol and Kosmos Pharma to commercialise oral film products

MonoSol, the US-based manufacturer of water-soluble films, has acquired substantially all of the assets of drug delivery company Kosmos Pharma and formed a new venture, MonoSolRx.


MonoSol, the US-based manufacturer of water-soluble films, has acquired substantially all of the assets of drug delivery company Kosmos Pharma and formed a new venture, MonoSolRx.

The new subsidiary of MonoSol, will leverage the combined strength of MonoSol and Kosmos Pharma to commercialise oral film strip products for the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical markets.

MonoSol has film manufacturing facilities at two locations in north west Indiana. Kosmos Pharma is based in Virginia and specialises in the use of film for quick dissolve oral drug delivery. Kosmos Pharma's FDTAB drug delivery system employs a film shaped like a postage stamp that dissolves instantly on the tongue. It was founded by Dr Richard Fuisz, an in-ventor and pioneer in the area of quick dissolve oral drug delivery systems.

P. Scott Bening, ceo of MonoSol, will serve as ceo of MonoSolRx.
