Neogap Therapeutics and NorthX Biologics team up to scale novel cancer cell therapy

CDMO NorthX Biologics will work with Neogap to determine advanced manufacturing protocols for Neogap's personalised cancer cell therapy

Clinical-stage biotech Neogap Therapeutics and CDMO NorthX Biologics have teamed up to determine how best to approach the scalable manufacturing of Neogap's cancer cell therapy.

Through the collaboration, the duo are aiming to optimise and scale the production of Neogap's cancer cell therapy for future clinical trials.

Neogap's personalised tumour trained lymphocytes (pTTL) are a novel type of cell therapy designed to treat solid tumours.

They function by encouraging the immune system to recognised and attack cancer cells — which is mainly achieved through a patient's unique neoantigens — making this type of cell therapy highly personalised.

Currently, Neogap is putting its pTTL cell therapy through a Phase I/II clinical trial, which is assessing the treatment's safety and tolerability in patients with advanced colorectal cancer.

Together, Neogap and NorthX will focus on scale-out strategies and GMP process industrialisation, which will allow the companies to provide material for large-scale clinical trials and — if approved — commercialisation.

The personalised treatment's development is being supported by ongoing funding from the European Innovation Council Accelerate.

Neogap Therapeutics' CEO, Samuel Svensson, commented: "Partnering with NorthX Biologics is an important step in preparing our therapy for future trials beyond the current Phase I study. Establishing a reliable and cost-effective manufacturing process is key to our clinical and commercial goals."

"We’re excited for our team to work closely with NorthX’s experts, combining our strengths to develop a scalable solution that will allow us to treat a larger patient population as we advance."

CEO of NorthX Biologics, Janet Hoogstraate, added: "Through our partnership with Neogap Therapeutics, we can leverage our expertise and Innovation Hub to support the development and manufacture of pTTL at every stage. Together, we are driving groundbreaking innovations forward to improve patients' lives around the world."
