New face for cartons
Field Boxmore - Leicester has developed a new method of attaching a patient information leaflet to a carton by enclosing it within a fifth panel on the face of the carton. The pack was developed to accommodate additional information on leaflets and improve packing line performance. The design allows the pharmacist to read the product's instructions by detaching an outsert enclosed within the carton's fifth panel. This allows the pack to remain intact before being dispensed to the patient.
The carton is printed at Leicester and the leaflet/outsert produced at Greenford. Leicester has also developed a machine application system that attaches the leaflet to the carton on the existing gluing line.
The pack was launched for a leading asthma drug, but other products are expected to move into this style of pack in the near future. Several pharmaceutical customers have expressed an interest, said Field Boxmore, and discussions are under-way to pursue these opportunities.
