New pump trio boosts Fristam's portfolio

Published: 18-May-2002

Pump manufacturer Fristam is launching three new stainless steel, modular products. The high performance FKL Positive Displacement pump uses an advanced rotary piston design to handle the most demanding applications. The patented technology allows this pump series to operate with pressures up to 30 bar, flow rates of up to 135 m3/h, and viscosities up to 1,000,000 cps.

Also making its debut is the FSP Shear Pump, which features a rotor-stator system designed to blend, homogenise, emulsify, disperse or dissolve different product components with equal or different states of aggregation to a fully homogenous multiphase product. Its immediate shearing effect prevents ingredients from forming agglomerates, lumps and unprocessed inclusions, thus avoiding time-consuming and costly mixing processes while maintaining a repeatable, high quality standard. The FSP is said to be particularly suited to the manufacture of ointments and creams for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.

Finally, the Genta pump gives a unique peristaltic-like displacement due to a patented 'valveless Nutating disc principle' without rotating parts in the product. The sealing of the pump is realised via a stainless steel bellow without mechanical shaft seal. The Genta is available in two sizes for capacities between 100 and 6,000l/h. The Genta is designed to transfer media that are highly sensitive and require sterilisation (CIP/SIP), and hermetic sealing of the highest standards, says Fristam. The main applications will be in biotechnology plants, pumping cell suspensions, nutritive solutions and enzymes and other products of high batch value.
