ACHEMA: Rockwell Automation to highlight PlantPAx distributed control system

Published: 7-May-2015

Integrates all automation processes in a single plant-wide system

Rockwell Automation will showcase how its PlantPAx distributed control system (DCS) can help integrate all automation processes in a single plant-wide system for process, power, safety and other non-process control systems. This also enables connectivity to further system integration such as supply chain integration, utilities and customer orders, enabling what the company describes as The Connected Enterprise – the realisation of Industry 4.0 principles, which increases productivity, improves efficiency and reduces the total cost of ownership.

With the latest system update, Rockwell Automation has added new virtualisation, batch management and integrated motor control capabilities to its PlantPAx DCS. This simplifies the system’s design, deployment, operation and maintenance. PlantPAx combines a distributed control system with hybrid and discrete applications, safety systems and motor control in a single integrated platform.

Rockwell will have several demo stations on its stand to provide visitors with an impression of the practical usage of PlantPAx in plant-wide and multi-plant environment.

The company will also demonstrate its traceability solutions. Serialisation requires a comprehensive system to track and trace products from manufacturing through the entire supply chain. Visitors can learn how companies are using new serialisation solutions to reduce implementation risks using commercial off-the-shelf technology.

The Pavilion8 software platform for industry-specific solutions that are integrated into high-value applications allows manufacturers to quickly adapt to changing business priorities and customer demands without increasing their costs.
