Bergolin launches next generation of its 2-component putty

Like earlier versions, the polyurethane-based liquid putty is particularly suitable for GRP surfaces

German industrial chemical wholesaler Bergolin has launched the next generation of its popular 2-component putty, Putty 4D980-4.

In rotor blade construction, easy-to-grind fillers are basic products, which are particularly indispensable and must meet high minimum standards. The significance of process-optimised products is increasing also in the service sector, because by choosing a suitable product, users can precisely scale downtime caused by failure and scheduled maintenance intervals.

With Bergolin Putty 4D980-4, the Bergolin company presents the latest generation of its popular 2-component putty and thus now also offers a technical solution for use in the service sector.

Like earlier versions, the polyurethane-based liquid putty is particularly suitable for GRP surfaces. Compared to other Bergolin Putty 2-component putties, the development team has optimised all relevant parameters and thus substantially improved process times. For the application process, Bergolin have oriented themselves on the requirements of the technicians on the blade. The name stands for user-friendliness and real progress with a 2-component system technology that can be used in service. The 2-component filler is solvent-free, mixing and application are carried out by machine, so that only the actual filling is done by hand, which significantly speeds up the process.

With a theoretical consumption of 1.35 kg/m² per millimeter of layer thickness, Bergolin Putty 4D480-4 is up to 12 percent more yielding than its predecessor products and thus addresses the increased requirements for coating ever larger rotor surfaces

In terms of performance, Bergolin builds on the well-known strengths of the Putty series and presents an elastic, pigmented and lightfast putty which is tailored for machine processing. At a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, the pot life is three minutes. Just 30 minutes after application, Bergolin Putty 4D980-4 has hardened sufficiently for immediate sanding and further processing. Due to the greatly reduced drying time, a process reduction of up to 40 percent can be achieved.

Another aspect in the coating of rotor blades are the enormous quantities of material needed due to the physical size of the plants. Accordingly, the yield of a product has an enormous impact on the application process. With a theoretical consumption of 1.35 kg/m² per millimeter of layer thickness, Bergolin Putty 4D480-4 is up to 12 percent more yielding than its predecessor products and thus addresses the increased requirements for coating ever larger rotor surfaces.

Bergolin was founded in 1909 and is a globally active company with headquarters in Germany. The company specialises in the development and manufacturing of high-quality individual coating systems and has a large product range for a wide variety of applications in the field of rotor blade production and maintenance.
