Körber acquires Seidenader Maschinenbau

Aims to expand pharmaceutical packaging systems division

Hamburg, Germany based Körber Group is to boost its Pharmaceutical Packaging Systems Division with the purchase of Seidenader Maschinenbau, of Markt Schwaben, near Munich.

Seidenader manufactures inspection machines, software and vision applications for pharmaceutical production.

Körber Medipak supplies comprehensive packaging systems for the pharmaceutical industry, and acts as a one-stop-shop for packaging and automation solutions for medical dosage forms.

The company said Seidenader’s inspection systems for the healthcare industry would be an ‘important and trendsetting addition’ to its service offering.

Seidenader employs 365 people in Germany and the US. It sales are at around €55m. Nikolaus Seidenader and Volker Weders-hoven, current managing partners will continue to head the company as managing directors.

‘Seidenader dovetails perfectly with Körber Medipak’s companies. Together we will be able to exploit additional growth opportunities,’ said Gerhard Breu, ceo of Körber Medipak.

Körber Medipak is the main company in Körber Group’s Pharmaceutical Packaging Systems Division. The firm employs 966 people and generated sales of €132m in 2009.

The Körber Group is an international technology group employs around 9,500 people worldwide. Sales were €1.6bn in 2009.
