Keynote speech will be a focal point during day two of the show

In a major coup, Lord Professor Robert Winston will deliver a keynote address at Lab Innovations 2013, which takes place on 6 - 7 November 2013 at the NEC, Birmingham, UK.

The fertility expert and high profile science spokesman will be joining Professor Andrea Sella as part of the two-day Royal Society of Chemistry conference running during the exhibition. Lord Winston’s keynote will be a focal point during day two of the show.

In addition to hearing him speak, 10 lucky show visitors will also win the opportunity to put their questions directly to Lord Winston as part of an intimate Q&A roundtable discussion he will host during Lab Innovations.

'We are thrilled to have Professor Lord Winston on board. His involvement speaks volumes for our show’s authority as a critical event in the lab professional’s calendar,' said Jake Morrison, Lab Innovations Event Manager.

'For him to be not only speaking but also providing precious one-to-one time for some of our visitors is incredible. Everyone will be hoping they win the competition and get the opportunity to take part in this unique experience; after all he has a tremendous breadth of experience for people to draw on.'

Lord Winston pioneered new treatments to improve IVF and is currently running a research programme that aims to improve human transplantation. He is a high profile commentator on a wide range of science-related topics, most recently commenting on the merits of not employing graduates with first class degrees.

Furthermore, as Chairman of the Lords Select Committee on Science and Technology from 1999-2002, he  initiated inquiries into antibiotic resistance, non-food crops, nuclear waste, science and society, genetic databases, aircraft passenger environment and science in schools.  A well respected scientist, Lord Winston has been voice of the scientific world and is known for challenging opinions.

In addition to Lord Winston’s keynote and roundtable, Lab Innovations 2013 will feature throughout its two days: a Royal Society of Chemistry Conference; Campden BRI technical workshops; a UKAS Contract Lab Pavilion; plus a packed exhibition hall featuring the latest product and service innovations from more than 100 supply companies.

Lab Innovations is the UK’s only event dedicated to laboratory equipment, technology and services. The show is already supported by the Royal Society of Chemistry, Campden BRI and Gambica and its attendees are lab managers and scientists working within the chemical, life sciences, food and beverage industries plus those in research institutions.

Visitor registration is free and now open via the Lab Innovations website www.easyFairs.com/labinnovations.
