Obesity pill mimics growth hormone

Melbourne scientists have successfully tested an antiobesity pill that burns off fat by mimicking human growth hormone. Monash University scientist Professor Frank Ng, who developed the drug, said it would help overweight people shed half a kilogram a week. The pill was tested on 16 obese men in Adelaide, where one dose increased fat breakdown with no apparent side-effects.

It is expected to cost about A$5 (€2.76) per day, and could be available within four years.
