Pharmaceutical packaging expert, Optima, has receieved a platinum medal from the sustainability assessment expert, EcoVadis.
This award is only given to the top one percent of companies assessed within their industry, and Optima is one of eight in the German mechanical and plant engineering sector to receive this title in 2024.
The company's sustainability strategy was laid out in 2022, and covered a range of concepts.
This included:
- Enhancing the percentage of recyclable packaging solutions
- Technical improvements to machines to reduce energy and media consumption
- Energy-saving measures
- Installation of solar collectors
Following on from the company's report, Optima got its IT security management system certified in accordance with ISO 27001.
Optima has also joined the UN Global Compact as a sign of its commitment to sustainability.

of anchoring sustainability as a central component of our corporate mission statement,”

Optima continues to focus on sustainability as the key to innovation and as the basis for long-term, responsible business practices.
The next steps planned by the group are the creation of a comprehensive sustainability report and the increased involvement of suppliers in social and environmental issues.
