UK laboratory and data logging equipment manufacturer Grant Instruments is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The company's laboratory water baths have been in continuous production since it was founded in Cambridge in 1952. More than 200,000 of them have been made in the last 50 years, of which 45% have been exported to at least 100 countries. The oldest bath known to be still in use in the UK was manufactured in 1959.
In addition to the baths, Grant also design and manufacture a wide range of laboratory apparatus, including circulators and thermostats, for hospital use, and an inspissator to help detect tuberculosis. Earlier this year the company acquired a majority shareholding in Datataker, an Australian data logging and data acquisition company.
