UK-based Penn Pharmaceutical services is to invest nearly £1m (€1.5m) to expand its facility in Tredegar, South Wales.

The redevelopment throughout the site is part of an ongoing programme which last year saw Penn invest £800,000 (€1.2m) to double the size of its manufacturing and production capacity.

The project will be carried out in two stages. Phase 1 will provide a new reception area, board room, meeting rooms and enhanced office accommodation, while Phase 2 will involve the development of new state-of-the-art pharmaceutical storage and clean room facilities to augment the formulation development capabilities.

'Expansion of the plant has always been a key feature of our management team's ambitious plans,' said Craig Rennie, ceo. 'Phase 1 will add valuable capacity to enable Penn to provide an improved envi-ronment for welcoming its many clients from the UK and overseas. Phase 2 will enable the company to meet ever-increasing demand for pharmaceutical development services and to modernise its onsite pharmaceutical storage capacity.

'The expansion will continue to support the company's growth. It reaffirms our commitment to and in-vestment in, not only the South Wales facility and staff, but also our growing international client base,' he added.
