Alfa Laval has appointed Nish Patel as managing director. He joined the company in 1984 after graduating with a first-class honours degree in chemical engineering.

James Noveroske is the new vp of toxicology and pharmacology for Concord OH, US-based, Ricerca. He was formerly a research fellow at Merck, and group leader of reproductive toxicology at GT Searle.

Altus Biologics has appointed Alastair Paton as business development manager. He will be responsible for developing biopharmaceutical contacts within Europe.

Paul Jenks has been appointed to the position of regional export sales manager for Thermo Goring Kerr. He will be responsible for the Asia Pacific region.

BASF has appointed Freid-Walter Muenstermann as managing director. He replaces Barry Stickings who assumes the position of chairman, in addition to his European regional responsibilities.

William Fallon has been appointed vp of technical operations for Princeton, NJ, US-based Novazyme. He was with Transkaryotic Therapies as vp of manufacturing.

LGC has announced that Ian Kent, will become the company's new chairman. He joins the board and will take over when the chairman Sir Brian Richards retires.

David Brennan has been appointed executive vp for North America by AstraZeneca. He is also president and ceo for the US of AstraZeneca LP. Tony Zook succeeds him as senior vp, commercial operations.

Colin Pierson is the new business development director of the Buckton Scott Group. He was previously managing director of Becpharm for eleven years.
