Bert Broeks has been named financial director of Solvay Healthcare UK & Ireland, part of the global pharmaceutical division of Solvay S.A.

He succeeds Kristian Saksida, who has been promoted to vice president for global r&d resources, based in the Netherlands.

Cyril Cisinski has succeeded Jean-Lionel Gros as managing director of Wacker Chimie, headquartered in Lyon, France. Gros has been appointed managing director of Wacker China, where he has been responsible for activities since April.

Pressure safety systems provider Elfab has appointed James Harris as its new sales and marketing director. Previously he held a similar position at Express Engineering.

International pump manufacturer KSB, of Loughborough in the UK, has appointed Tamsin Smith as its new internal sales engineer for the industrial sector. Philip Kay has also joined the company as area sales manager for the north west region.

Several promotions have been announced by UK-based tablet machinery specialist Manesty, part of the IWKA group. Paul Whittle has been promoted to business unit director, responsible for the company's engineering and manufacturing functions.

Meanwhile Kevin Costello has been promoted from aftermarket director to commercial director, and will be responsible for the company's sales, marketing, process validation and aftermarket activities. He has added to his team by recruiting Amjad Ghulam as sales manager. A new director of finance has also been named: Tobias Muehlberg is an internal appointment from within the IWKA group.

UK speciality chemicals manufacturer Robinson Brothers (RBL) has appointed Adrian Hanrahan as chemical business manager.

Contract research company Peakdale Molecular has retained the services of independent medicinal chemistry consultant Dr Geoff Lawton. He will be advising Peakdale on aspects of drug discovery research, including processes, technologies and people development.

Stephen Blair has been appointed managing director for Invensys Process Systems, in the UK. He joins Invensys from Silvertech, a systems design and control engineering company supplying computer-based high integrity control and safety systems.
