Dustcheck, the UK manufacturer of dust control systems, has promoted Lincoln Durose to sales engineer for the north of the country. He joined the company just over two years ago as contracts engineer, and will now be responsible for developing relations with existing and potential customers in the north of the UK.

Joseph X. Phillips has joined ISPE, the Society for Life Science Professionals, as regulatory affairs advisor, and brings more than 45 years of pharmaceutical regulatory affairs experience to this newly created position. Phillips was also recently appointed to the FDA as a special government employee on the Pharmaceutical Science Advisory Committee which is involved in the agency's new risk-based approach to Pharmaceutical Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) for the 21st Century' initiative.

Operations management consultancy Tefen has appointed Kiran V Patel as partner, with responsibility for client acquisition and account development in Tefen's expanding life science sector. He was formerly a vice president with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young.

Ytron-Quadro has appointed Michael Wren as its exclusive agent in Ireland. A native of Cork, he has a strong process and technical background and a strong commitment to customer care.

UK-based international drug development company PharmaNet has appointed Tim Elliott as senior director, regulatory affairs. He is an international regulatory affairs professional who has extensive pharmaceutical industry experience. Prior to joining PharmaNet, Elliott was director, worldwide regulatory affairs at a major contract research organisation. He has also held senior-level regulatory affairs positions with Laboratoires Fournier, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, and Bristol-Myers Squibb.

Dr Christoph von Plotho has succeeded Albert Baehny as president of Wacker Specialties. Among other activities, the business division provides chemical and biotech building blocks for synthesis in pharmaceuticals.

Millbrook Scientific Instruments is expanding its customer and technical support function with the appointment of Ben Cliff as a senior applications scientist. He will be responsible for handling technical queries about the Millbrook MiniSIMS surface chemical analyser, as well as running training programmes for new and potential customers and working as part of the team that is developing new features for the instrument.
