Dr David Moody has been appointed as vp commercial operations at CSS (Chemical Synthesis Services) in Northern Ireland. He has previously worked with RTZ, ICI and AstraZeneca before becoming director of new technology ventures at Avecia. Dr Moody brings to CSS extensive knowledge and expertise in the global pharmaceutical fine chemicals market.
Matthias Zachert has been named as the chief financial officer of Lanxess by the Bayer board of management and will take up his position on 1 June. He is currently group chief financial officer of Kamps, where he was involved in the realignment of the company. His appointment completes the management team of the new company, which comprises large sections of the present Bayer Chemicals and some operations of Bayer Material Science. NewCo is scheduled to be listed on the stock market under the Lanxess name by early 2005.
Dr Ellen de Brabander has been appointed new business unit director of DSM Pharma Chemicals.
US biopharmaceutical company Anadys Pharmaceuticals has hired Renee Lamb, formerly of Biogen-Idec, as senior director of regulatory affairs. Additionally, Anadys has promoted Michael Kamdar to senior vice president of corporate development and finance.
Dr Frank Malinoski has been named as the new executive vice president development and chief medical officer at Oxxon Therapeutics, a biotechnology company developing immunotherapeutics for cancer and chronic infectious diseases based on its novel proprietary PrimeBoost technology. He brings 18 years of experience in vaccine and immunotherapeutic development to Oxxon, most recently at Wyeth Vaccines, where he served in various roles including vice president of global business development, vice president of global medical affairs, and director of clinical research.
Specialist pharmaceutical packaging provider Brecon Pharmaceuticals has appointed Louise Dando as new business development manager to assist the company in its 2004 expansion programme. She joins Brecon from Alcan Packaging and is responsible for maintaining and developing the existing customer base and for implementing Brecon's new business strategy.
William Diaz has been appointed as director and general manager of Foster Wheeler USA's Puerto Rico Operations. Based in San Juan, he will develop local opportunities in pharmaceuticals and biotech.
