UK-based European management consultancy Arthur D Little (ADL) has appointed a healthcare practice leader. Robert Kane will head up ADL's healthcare division with particular emphasis on working with clients in the UK and Europe. He has 20 years of industry and consulting experience, working alongside global companies in the healthcare industry. His particular expertise spans strategic planning, r&d, portfolio planning, new product development, venture funding and technology assessment.

Dey LP, a US affiliate of Merck KgaA that focuses on prescription drug products for the treatment of selected respiratory diseases and allergies, has appointed Mel Engle as the company's new president and ceo. Engle has served as the chief operating officer at Dey since January, prior to which he was chairman, president and ceo of Anika Therapeutics.

PSL, the supplier of high containment systems and filtration and drying equipment to the pharmaceutical industry worldwide, has strengthened its customer support team with the recruitment of two key employees. Chad Ranpuria is the new process manager, providing the essential interface between the process needs of our customers and the equipment solutions provided by PSL. He was previously with Unilever and has extensive experience in the processing and handling of powders. Peter Murphy has taken responsibility for estimating and project scheduling. Previously he was group planning and logistics manager at Contract Chemicals.

The biopharmaceutical process solutions specialist Stainless Fittings has named Louise Morgan as internal sales negotiator, following a restructuring of the company's internal sales team. She will handle all aspects of the sales process and deal with enquiries from key European markets.

Polymer Laboratories has created the new position of European specialist. Huub Bock, sales manager for the company's Benelux operation, will support PL's systems for high temperature GPC and rapid polymer screening product range, plus the Precision Detectors' range of laser-light scattering instruments for absolute molecular weight characterisation.

Oxford-based Avidex, which specialises in the development of T cell-based therapeutics in the fields of immunology and cancer has appointed Dr Neill Moray MacKenzie to its board as chief business officer. He has broad experience of the pharmaceutical industry, and will have responsibility for business development.
