People on the move

Carlisle Life Sciences, Extract Technology has made two new appointments. Matthew Brown has rejoined the company as sales engineer covering the north of the UK. He will take over responsibility for sales and full technical support of Extract's product range, including the CleanLine downflow booth, the BarrierFlex flexible isolator and the Quadraflow specialist workstation. Meanwhile, Mark Thistlethwaite has taken over the role of sales engineer for Extract's PBSC range of systems for clean controlled environments, particularly in the pharmaceutical, chemical and biotechnology sectors.

Ernest (Ernie) Hedley has been appointed by Ytron-Quadro as sales representative for the dry products division in the north of England and Scotland. He has more than 20 years' experience in technical sales engineering covering the food, pharmaceutical, chemical, confectionery and plastics industries.

Evotec OAI has named Dr Ian Hunneyball as president of discovery services and member of the management board. He will lead Evotec OAI's chemistry operations in Abingdon, UK, and the biology services operations in Hamburg, Germany. Evotec OAI has created this position because of increasing demand for integrated target-to-IND-services', covering all biology and chemistry aspects of drug discovery. Dr Hunneyball was most recently director of r&d at Entomed, a French biotechnology company involved in the discovery and development of drugs derived from the biology of insects.

The company has also announced that Sean Marett, currently chief business officer, has become senior vice president, licensing and negotiations, with responsibility for negotiating high-level partnership agreements. He will no longer be member of the management board.

Bayer has appointed Lambert Courth as country speaker and managing director of Bayer plc, for the UK and Ireland with effect from 1 January. He replaces Lennart Aberg, who is retiring after 10 years in the role. Courth joins from fragrances and flavours manufacturer Haarmann & Reimer, until recently, part of the Bayer group of companies. He will be based at the company's UK and Ireland HQ in Newbury, Berkshire.

Codexis has appointed Gordon Woodrow as its new European business manager. He will be based in the UK and will oversee the company's European commercial activities, including new business development. He joins from Evotec OAI where he was business development manager.
