Two key positions have been created at Aesica, supplier of active pharmaceutical ingredients, expanding the company's sales and marketing team. Jennie Rosby joins as business development manager, and will be responsible for Aesica's custom synthesis business. She formerly worked for the Japanese Pharmaceutical company Otsuka.
Aesica has also appointed Maria Koustareva as marketing manager. She was recruited from IDS in Durham. Simcyp, the global specialist in the in silico simulation and prediction of pharmacokinetics and drug-drug interactions in virtual patient populations, has appointed Dr Steve Toon to the company board as executive director. Toon will be responsible for strengthening Simcyp's reputation in modelling and simulation by expanding its global presence and product offering to all the leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology organisations. 'I expect to be working closely with Steve over the coming years, as Simcyp expands into the simulation and prediction of further aspects of drug absorption and disposition and pharmacological and therapeutic effects,' said Simcyp chairman Geoff Tucker
UK provider of pharmaceutical outsourcing services Penn Pharmaceutical Services has appointed Damian Gant as a project manager. Gant joins Penn from Brecon Pharmaceuticals where he was project manager in the clinical trial supply division, and has more than 10 years' project and account management experience working on behalf of international pharmaceutical companies. He will report to Penn's director of operations, John Roberts, who is responsible at executive level for Contract Manufacturing, Clinical Trial Supply, Storage and Distribution and Project Management activities at Penn.
US-based biopharmaceutical firm Genaera has appointed Dr Anthony DelConte as vice president of clinical r&d. DelConte will lead research activities related to the development of trodusquemine for the treatment of obesity, and squalamine lactate for the treatment of cancer. He was previously a senior medical director at Novartis Pharmaceuticals, and worked in both medical affairs and clinical r&d at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.
Ian Johnson is the latest addition to the European sales team at Rieke Packaging Systems Englass, joining as regional sales manager. Johnson will be responsible for the development and growth of new accounts in the UK and mainland Europe, as well as maintaining and building existing business. He joins from pharmaceutical and vitamins manufacturer Pont Packaging, where he was UK sales manager.
