Over the last few years, drug and medical device packaging has evolved considerably; what was once a mere package has become a sophisticated delivery system. "This concept has spawned major developments that illustrate the dynamic, ongoing progress of research work," says Professor Jean-ClaudeChaumeil, Faculte de Pharmacie, Universite Rene Descartes Paris V (France).
"Pharmapack 2008 gives participants access to the lastest innovations in this field and is the first European and international platform for exchanges between players involved in the design, packaging and delivery of drugs and medical devices."
The exhibition brings together leading specialists in pharmaceutical packaging and more than 130 companies from 40 countries: designers, manufacturers and suppliers of materials, processors, technology and service providers, experts in drug and health product packaging, reconstitution and administration.
The conference runs in parallel with the exhibition. The programme will take stock of current developments in cancer treatment packaging and will address issues relating to:
- The European and international regulatory framework;
- The production and packaging of drugs, safety of personnel in production, respect for the environment;
- The transport, traceability and preservation of the drug throughout the supply chain, protection against counterfeit;
- The safety of medical staff, patients and their families during drug reconstitution and administration;
- Compliance and the "proper use. of drugs;
- Packaging disposal and respect for the environment after use.
