Pump pride

Goulds Pumps has honoured John Thorne with its Golden Eagle Award in recognition of his 'inspirational leadership, long-standing achievements, dedication to customers and professionalism at the highest level'.

Until recently Thorne was vice president and managing director of industrial sales for western Europe at ITT Industries/Goulds Pumps. He now works as a consultant to ITT Industries for the promotion of the ground-breaking PumpSmart package.

He was one of the founders of Lowara UK, a joint venture with an Italian pump manufacturer, which was subsequently bought out by Goulds Pumps in 1986, which in turn was acquired by ITT Industries in 1997.
