This advanced design maintains a full-length quadrupole to support high-speed, high-sensitivity analysis while maintaining superior detection performance

Shimadzu’s LCMS-2050 Liquid Chromatograph Single Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer showcases an impressive heated dual ion source (DUIS) capability, combining electrospray (ESI) and atmospheric pressure chemical ionisation (APCI) simultaneously in a compact form factor. This advanced design maintains a full-length quadrupole to support high-speed, high-sensitivity analysis while maintaining superior detection performance for diverse range of samples. The heated DUIS, equipped with both an ESI spray nozzle and an APCI corona needle, enables the simultaneous detection of high-polarity molecules like Simetryn and low-polarity molecules like Quintozene, which are challenging to detect using ESI alone.

The incorporation of ultrafast technology, including a 15,000 u/sec scan speed and a 10 msec polarity switching time, ensures that high data quality is preserved even with unknown or complex samples with the narrowest of peaks. The LCMS-2050’s space-saving design allows it to fit neatly into the same space as a standard LC component and achieves 43% energy savings compared to previous models.

Utilising Shimadzu's LabSolutions LCMS software, the system simplifies data review by displaying LC/MS chromatograms and UV/MS spectra in a single window, with the capability to annotate mass information directly onto the UV chromatogram making it suitable for all users.

The LCMS-2050, with its compact size and advanced DUIS technology, represents a significant leap forward in mass spectrometry, providing a powerful, efficient, and space-saving solution for high-performance liquid chromatography.
