The Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association (SOCMA) has launched 'Joe's Blog' (http://joesblog.socma.org) at InformexUSA, during the association's press conference.

A first of its kind in the industry, the organisation says, 'Joe's Blog' provides posts written by SOCMA President Joe Acker, who has 40 years of experience in the chemical manufacturing industry. The posts provide information to anyone interested in staying informed of activities in the synthetic organic chemical industry. The blog will provide industry news, publications, policy updates and behind-the-scenes information that is difficult to provide in the Chemical Bond Express, SOCMA's weekly newsletter.

SOCMA hopes the blog will provide a forum where members can check in frequently with its activity and give instant feedback on pressing issues.

'SOCMA is searching for a way to be in touch with our members all the time,' Acker said. 'We deal with a wide range of issues on a daily basis and we need the ability to get information out to our members more quickly than the weekly newsletter. 'Joe's Blog' is the perfect vehicle to get information out and in a less formal way.'

Acker also will use his blog to take comments from members and develop conversations on critical topics as well as ensure all readers access to a wealth of information.

Especially when there is a new Congress in Washington, we expect lots of rapid development in issue areas. This will be the place to hear about everything happening in the chemical manufacturing worldAcker added. I would like nothing more than for members to respond to my postings in a way that starts meaningful dialogue, Acker added.
