Almac Clinical Service has added 1,277m³ of storage capacity at its EU headquarters in Craigavon, Northern Ireland to meet increased demand for cold-chain and controlled clinical supply storage from biotech and pharma companies.

The new purpose-built facility holds 150 pallet spaces for controlled drug storage and provides 450 extra pallet spaces for storage of refrigerated material (2-8°C), with room for an additional future expansion of 400 pallets.

Almac has already expanded its cold storage facility at its US sites in Durham (North Carolina) and Audubon (Pennsylvania).

Robert Dunlop, president of Almac Clinical Services said: "The opening of the new storage warehouse is a testimony to our commitment to providing the highest quality of service and available capacity to our customers."

Almac Clinical Services, which employs around 2,200 people, provides blinding, packaging, labelling, global distribution, QP release, analytical testing, drug supply management and online randomisation services.

The company started building its new US$100m North American headquarters last July. Construction should be completed by 2010.
