Sustainable pipette tips: A new milestone for TipOne

Published: 3-Jul-2024

The blue bases of TipOne racks are now made from 25% recycled plastic

After celebrating its 25th anniversary last year, Starlab International, specialists in the manufacture and sale of laboratory products, reached another significant milestone in the history of TipOne.

It announces a further advancement in its sustainability journey (#Ecolutionmovement): the blue bases of TipOne racks are now made from 25% recycled plastic!

"Since our founding in 1998, we have pursued a clear mission: to reduce environmental impact and promote a greener future for laboratories as a manufacturer," explains Klaus Ambos, President & CEO of Starlab International.

The racks with recycled material will be manufactured from July 2024.

Since 1998, TipOne has proven itself as a reliable partner in laboratories worldwide and is used in research facilities around the globe.

"26 years ago, TipOne revolutionised the world of pipetting, setting a new standard for compatibility and user-friendliness – now this product is increasingly associated with sustainability," says Ambos.

All TipOne racks manufactured from July 2024 will contain 25% recycled material in the blue base.

This progress towards more sustainable pipette tips follows the introduction of fully recycled plastic for the clear polypropylene system components of TipOne refills in 2023.

"Since last year, the polypropylene packaging for our TipOne pipette tip refill packs has been made from 100% recycled plastic, and now the rack base will also be made with 25 percent recycled material. I can assure you: This is not the end of the road!"

Starlab is taking important steps not only on the manufacturing side – the entire product lifecycle is being carefully considered. With the recycling service, Starlab gives plastic waste the opportunity for another product life.
