University College Cork opens new pharmacy teaching and research building
University College Cork (UCC), in south west Ireland, has officially opened its new pharmacy teaching and research building that will also house a dedicated pharma industry research collaboration facility.
University College Cork (UCC), in south west Ireland, has officially opened its new pharmacy teaching and research building that will also house a dedicated pharma industry research collaboration facility.
Built at a cost of Euro 22.3m, The Cavanagh Pharmacy Building comprises some 5,600m2 of teaching and research laboratories, lecture theatres and seminar rooms and support space. it will also be the home of the university's Analytical and Biological Chemistry Research Facility (ABCRF), and has a dedicated industry suite to facilitate collaboration between UCC and the pharmaceutical industry.
The Cavanagh Pharmacy Building is located adjacent to the university's BioSciences Institute and BioTransfer Unit to facilitate university-industry research collaborations.
The ABCRF consists of interdisciplinary research teams from chemistry and biochemistry, which have a natural synergy with the research work of the School of Pharmacy. The aim is to encourage innovative collaborations, both nationally and globally, with partners in the pharmaceutical industry.
