The new DTS 1200, from German manufacturer CSAT, can print digital information on to blisterpacks with a resolution of 1200 dpi, without the need for temperature and pressure or the requirement for a print mat or master foil. The technology developed by CSAT can also print in a type size so small that it cannot be read by the naked eye.

The machine is useful for producing blisterpacks in small batches where artwork or data needs changing rapidly. Anti-counterfeiting software also allows each pack to be printed with a randomly generated unique number, which is completely traceable to its origin of time, date and location of packing.

The machine links up to a laptop at one end and variable speed equipment producing blisterpacks at the other. Digitally created artwork, including logos and variable and real time data, is transferred directly to the printer, giving a safe and fully validatable system.

The machine offers the potential for four-colour printing with standard and UV toners, resistance to heat, pressure, abrasion and the influence of solvents. The system won a PPMA award for excellence for offering manufacturers several innovative advantages.
