Watson-Marlow adds resistant pump tubing

Published: 28-Jul-2001

Watson-Marlow Bredel has introduced Chem-Sure tubing for peristaltic pump applications. The tubing, developed in conjunction with W.L. Gore, is claimed to be the most chemically-resistant long-life peristaltic tube available.

It can handle aggressive chemicals such as inorganic acids and organic solvents, and is said to have a lifetime over 50 times as long as any other fluoroelastomer tubing. It was developed to meet the needs of the pharmacetuical, speciality chemical and high-throughput synthesis segments.

The tube is constructed as a layered composite of expanded PTFE and high-grade fluoroelastomer. It is free of plasticisers and other processing aids, and the company says it is the only fluoroelastomer tube to have passed both the FDA food contact certification and USP class VI tests for pharmaceutical applications.
