When for art thou ISPE?
The central region committee of the ISPE, under its Chairman Roger Shillitoe of CEL International is organising the Annual ISPE UK event in Stratford-Upon-Avon on November 17.
The topical subject for the meeting is: What is the future of UK pharmaceutical manufacturing?' Following and introduction by the chairman, Nick Morris, president of Global PharmaChem, Dr Richard Barker, director general of the ABPI, will give the Keynote lecture, setting out the ABPI's view on the status of the British pharmaceutical industry.
This will be followed by lectures on different aspects of what is happening in the UK drug industry, with talks from William Powlett-Smith, a partner at Ernst and Young, and Professor Russell Smith, CEO Business Boffins. The afternoon session will concentrate on 'How can we face the challenge and manufacture successfully?' This will comprise a series of short overviews of British successes, initiatives and innovations in the Pharma Industry. The speakers will be Crawford Brown: Eden BioPharm; Professor Ian Sutherland: Brunel University; Kevin Unwin: Norgine; Dr David Mead: Delta Biotechnology and Ben Brudenell from The Boots Company. The final lecture is entitled 'The Regulatory Perspective', and will be discussed by Gerald Hedell, director, Inspection and Enforcement, of the MHRA.
