WPA, a Biochrom Group company, of Cambridge in the UK, has developed the S1000 Spectrawave, visible spectrophotometer. As well as being robust and simple to use, making it ideal for use in teaching, research and industrial quality control environments, WPA claims it is the first instrument of its type offering cost-effective sophisticated diode array technology.

The S1000 can operate in absorbance or % transmission modes and provides single wavelength measurement or instant spectral scans. It has a large graphical display of scans, calibration curves, kinetic plots and methods, and may also be linked to printers or PCs for advanced applications.

Biochrom has also seen a 30% increase in sales of its bench-top amino acid analyser, the Biochrom 30. The machine incorporates a number of hardware innovations like new ceramic pump heads for high-pressure operations, new technology valves and PEEK components in critical locations..
