Ionix Pharmaceuticals, the Cambridge-based biotechnology company specialising in the discovery of novel analgesics, has secured £8m in funding.

The funding was led by venture capitalist firm Apax Partners Funds, along with The Wellcome Trust. Ionix targets the perception and signalling of pain in the peripheral nervous system, focusing on pain with osteo and rheumatoid arthritis, for example.
