Adaptability wins orders for Thermo Allen Coding

Two specialist pharmaceutical companies have recently installed 4ACC carton coding systems from Thermo Allen Coding, of Welwyn Garden City in the UK.

The need for a more reliable and flexible system prompted Europharm Group, part of Intercare, to replace two of its old systems with one 4ACC40 carton coder. The 4ACC40 is being used to print variable batch information onto various size cartons containing blisterpacks of tablets. Operating at speeds of up to 140 cartons/min, the free-standing, automatic unit offers a print area from 38 x 25mm up to 78 x 45mm, depending on the type of coding head fitted.

The second installation is at Norwich-based Packpharm, which assembles and distributes pharmaceutical raw materials including creams, liquids and dry products into standard pots, cartons and glass bottles. The company chose a 4ACC carton coder for its ease of use and its ability to handle multiple product changes on a daily basis.

The unit is coding branded cartons and labels for 20 different products with batch numbers, manufacture and expiry dates at a line speed of up to 150 cartons/min.
