Cabinet air conditioners approved for use in hazardous areas rated Zone 1 Gas or Zone 21 Dust are available from Pfannenberg UK.

Its new DTS-Ex 7x41 is available in four different capacities, from 1500W to 3500W, with the cabinet cut-out common to all versions and an airflow of 560m3/h achieved inside the cabinet.

By using the DTS-Ex 7x41 in conjunction with a suitable approved pressurised cabinet, standard electrical and electronic equipment such as switchgear, other components can be installed in the hazardous area without every component having to be either flameproof or intrinsically safe, potentially reducing cost considerably and enabling 'off-the-shelf' devices to be used.

The unit is factory set to 35°C, with an over-temperature warning activated if the internal temperature rises to 50°C. Ambient operating temperature is from -35° to +45°C.
